 Komandor marynarki królewskiej "Lucky" Jack Aubrey i jego najlepszy przyjaciel, lekarz okrętowy dr Stephen Maturin pełnią służbę na fregacie o nazwie Surprise. Pewnego dnia ich statek zostaje znienacka zaatakowany przez przeważające siły wroga. Mimo, iż w czasie potyczki jednostka zostaje poważnie uszkodzona, a wielu członków załogi odnosi rany, komandor Jack Aubrey decyduje się na morderczy pościg przez dwa oceany, starając się za wszelką cenę przechwycić wrogi okręt. |
Gra toczy się o niezwykle wysoką stawkę, jaką jest dobre imię komandora. Jeśli uda mu się pokonać nieprzyjacielską jednostkę, zdobędzie rozgłos i sławę, jeśli nie, pogrąży siebie i swoją załogę.
