 Z okazji rocznicy w amerykańskim mieście Milwaukee odbywa się zlot miłośników kultowego motoru. Mija 100 lat od dnia, gdy na amerykańskich drogach pojawił się pierwszy Harley-Davidson. Aby uczcić okrągłą rocznicę, tysiące fanów legendarnego motoru zjechało do Milwaukee, gdzie wyprodukowano pierwszy egzemplarz Harleya. Jeden z organizatorów zlotu, Bruce Gregory tłumaczy, na czym polega magia tej maszyny: - "Harley wspaniale się prezentuje, nawet najmniejszy, klasyczny model 883. Kiedy mówisz komuś, że jeździsz Harleyem to znaczy, że jesteś w porządku. Jak ktoś ci mówi, że ma Hondę - myślisz sobie, i co z tego?". |
Pierwszy legendarny motor złożył w 1903 roku w drewnianej szopie w Milwaukee w stanie Wisconsin, 21-letni wówczas William S. Harley wraz z braćmi Davidsonami, Arthurem i Walterem. Nazywał się Silent Grey Fellow i miał jednocylindrowy silnik o pojemności 410 cm3. W 1907 r. powstała firma Harley-Davidson Motor Company Inc. W latach 80. stanęła na krawędzi bankructwa, teraz jednak Harleye znów są w modzie.
